Villa Dafne is not just an agritourism or farmhouse hotel. It is in fact a part of the family business conducted against the backdrop of the rustic landscape of the Sicilian hinterland. The Azienda Agricola Fratelli Mascarella has been in the agro-livestock business for more than three generations.
Today, like yesterday, our crops and our livestock are cared for by respecting the land and animals, thereby helping our food to acquire healthiness, energy and flavour.
The Fratelli Mascarella company specializes in the production and processing of agricultural products such as cheeses and tomato products, coupled with the activities of the farmhouse hotel.V illa Dafne has now created the brand “Le Bontà di Villa Dafne” to allow its guests to bring home the same quality and the same tastes they find at the farm.
The menus at Villa Dafne are prepared with raw materials and ingredients produced exclusively on our farm with our own animals.
Our animals are raised with sustainable production methods, both for people and the environment, in accordance with best agricultural practices and respect for animal welfare.
The rearing of sheep and cattle provide us with the milk we process on the farm for the production of typical Sicilian cheese. The lambs and calves are used in the delicious cuisine of Villa Dafne, while the pigs, are used prepare salami and stuffed sausages of various kinds, in addition to meats and sausages.
Our crops, for their part, are grown organically and we cultivate many kinds of vegetables, including eggplant, peppers, artichokes, broccoli and more. They are grilled and/or preserved in oil and served as delicious appetizers. Among the many vegetables grown on the farm, the tomato reigns supreme. Our tomatoes are dried or made into sauce, especially our famous “Siccagno Tomato Sauce.”
Villa Dafne features a large restaurant where our guests can savour the delights of traditional Sicilian cuisine and discover the island’s traditional flavours. It is a journey into a true legend, a direct path into the culture of Sicilian cuisine and to the discovery of a culinary treasure, with homegrown products.
The colours and aromas of eggplant, basil, cheese, pecorino cheese, ricotta cheese and tomato, the prince of Villa Dafne’s crops, are all a prelude to the discovery of a gastronomic universe.
